Prep for Back To School Success
How the school supplies you choose can set up your child with success, even those who may struggle in school.
Enjoy my favorite back-to-school supplies round-up! Do you know that you can match school supplies to learning and organizational styles and fine motor capabilities?
One of the frustrations parents come to me over and over again about is keeping their kids organized at school. This is a universal struggle but can be even harder if you have a child with ADHD, Executive Functioning difficulties, Sensory Difficulties, or even fine motor difficulties.
Yep, it takes fine motor skills and planning to get those papers in a neat stack and in a pocket folder with nothing sticking out so it doesn't get crunched in their bag or folder. So I've listed some of my favorite folders and folder alternatives like a large zip up portfolio style accordion file or smaller versions, multi-packs or legal size versions for more “giggle room!”
Now, let's talk notebooks! Have a child that gets easily frustrated? So many do! One area that kids tend to get the most frustrated and be the most insecure about is writing. So the last thing they need is a notebook that won't lay flat. They may struggle to hold the notebook flat with one arm and write neatly with their other hand. Check out the lay flat varieties I included. And you may want to consider wide-ruled notebooks for those whose fine motor control makes writing legibly and tiny a challenge!
Now what about writing utensils? So many varieties: the fat or triangular pencils for those struggling with pencil grip, raised line paper, special erasers... Can you tell that I LOVVVVVVEEEE School Supplies?
For my favorite favorites I put a little explanation of why they deserve to be on my Amazon storefront! I even threw a few fidgets and my favorite lunch supplies on the list, because fresh school year-fresh fidgets :)
